Bhopal. Under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, the Skin Bank was inaugurated at AIIMS Bhopal. This specialized facility is dedicated to the collection, processing, preservation, and distribution of human skin allografts. It is a crucial initiative for the treatment of severe burns, chronic wounds, and other skin-related injuries. On this occasion, Prof. Singh stated, "The establishment of the Skin Bank at AIIMS Bhopal is a significant achievement for the institution and the entire region. The availability of preserved skin is vital in saving lives during the treatment of burns and wounds."
Operated by the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, this Skin Bank will function 24/7. It adheres to the highest standards of safety and quality, incorporating continuous staff training and regular quality control measures. The Skin Bank will play a pivotal role in meeting the growing demand for skin allografts in medical emergencies, offering a new lease on life to patients in need. The event witnessed the participation of Prof. Shashank Purwar (officiating Medical Superintendent), Head of the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, Prof. (Dr.) Manal Mohammad Khan, Dr. Deepak Krishna, Additional Professor Burns & Plastic Surgery along with faculty members and resident doctors. Equipped with modern technology and advanced facilities, AIIMS Bhopal's Skin Bank ensures the streamlined donation, processing, and storage of skin, enabling timely and life-saving treatments for patients.
