Scholarship of Rs. 5000 per month to young artists

With the objective of encouraging talented selected young artists in the field of Indian Classical Music, Indian Classical Dance/Chance Music, Theatre, Visual Arts and Folk, Traditional, Indigenous Arts and Light Classical Music, the Ministry of Culture, Government of India is providing scholarship of Rs. 5000 per month. The scheme named 'Scholarship to Young Artists in Various Cultural Fields (SYA)' aims to provide assistance to young artists specializing in various cultural fields like classical dance forms, indigenous artwork and other traditional art-forms to acquire advanced training. Under this scheme, a maximum of 400 young artists are awarded scholarship of Rs. 5,000/- per month in four equal six monthly installments for a period of 02 years. The selected artists should be between the age of 18 years to 25 years and must have trained for at least 5 years under a Guru or institution. The students are selected on the basis of their performance in a personal interview/interaction before an Expert Committee constituted by the Ministry.
