AIIMS Bhopal's 'Doctor-to-Doctor' Initiative: Expanding
Specialist Healthcare Services in Remote Areas
Bhopal . Under the guidance of Professor (Dr.) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, the institute has launched an innovative telehealth program aimed at strengthening healthcare services at the grassroots level. A key component of this program, the "Doctor-to-Doctor (D to D)" initiative, seeks to foster virtual collaboration between doctors in peripheral hospitals and AIIMS Bhopal's specialist medical team. This initiative is designed to extend medical services to remote and underserved areas.
Through the D to D initiative, virtual interactive sessions are conducted to provide consultations and education to doctors at different centres on managing common medical conditions, as well as solving specific case-based problems. Specialists from AIIMS Bhopal's 24 departments actively participate in these sessions, offering valuable guidance. Every day, specialists from four departments are available during pre-scheduled time slots. These sessions are conducted from Monday to Friday between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM, and on Saturdays from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
Highlighting the importance of the program, Prof. Singh stated, "The D to D initiative is not just a program; it is a vision to ensure equitable healthcare for all. By leveraging telecommunication technology, we are overcoming barriers of distance and delivering expert care to those in needs. This initiative will benefit patients in rural and remote areas."
